At teamvolt we like to take part in as many parkruns as possible as well as visiting as many other local parkruns in line with our #runsomewheredifferent ethos. On Saturday I headed to East Park in Hull as a ‘parkrun tourist’ and had a spare 10 minutes before the start of the run and so managed to see a lot of the runners arriving. What is amazing about parkrun is the fact that you have all different ages & abilities who descend on their local parks week in-week out with the aim of starting their Saturdays with a 5k run. What a great way to kick off your weekend!
Individuals, friends, families. All are welcome and you can guarantee that you will see lots of smiling faces before and after (plus loads during – although many may not admit it…..!)
Parkrun started their weekly free timed 5k runs back in 2004 and now has 450 locations around the world which have hosted a total of 83,849 events with 1,279,635 runners taking part. Simply amazing.
One of the reasons why teamvolt enjoy parkrun events so much is because of the values that they have are very closely aligned with ours. By making these events accessible to everyone it is helping to engage as many people as possible into a healthier lifestyle and providing a platform to exercise that many people may not otherwise be able to have.
If you are a regular parkrun attendee, why not see which other ones are in the area and then grab a few friends, head across and be a ‘tourist’ (even join us if you are in our area). If you have not quite made your parkrun debut, or have not been for a while, why not make a commitment right now to be toeing the start line at 9am next Saturday??? We promise you won’t regret it.
Thanks to the fantastic people at parkrun and the volunteers from all here at teamvolt. You guys are awesome!
